TRAINING and FACILITATING
Be curious about people, and more curious about ideas.
- Marie Curie
Following the PhD in Organisational Learning and Leadership from Lancaster University Management School, I have pursued a career as an educator. First, I applied myself in the University context, and later moved to a Head of Learning and Development role at a technology company. For other 20 years, I battled with realities of inspiring human learning and called upon behavioural, cognitive and experiential learning paradigms to help me with it. Having collected a number of nuggets of wisdom, I have been sharing them through various training activities, thought leadership and writing.
Recently I qualified as a chef, and in so doing I gained a new, distinct window into curiosity and learning. As an eternal human companion, food has helped us to tell our stories, engage with others, and express ourselves. At the time when we revise the roadmap of how to engage with the world and each other, our interaction with food shines the light on beliefs, behaviours, memories, (dis)likes and triggers we hold dear. Applying a food lens amplifies our sensory perceptions, and shifts away from the dominant voices of language, reason and logic. Fleshing out these fundamentals can help at the time of transition, and can serve as an additional instrument for managing work-life balance, stress, anxiety and for building long-lasting relationships.
In an attempt to capture some of these insights and in collaboration with the VU Leadership Academy, I have put together Food for Thought Leadership Course that aims to help managers grow and/or exercise relational skills using the wisdom of food. At last, my two passions are together!
